Do you hate using a public restroom?  Jersey Joe checks out your comments and phobias about using public restrooms.

THE 411

What: Public restrooms

Resason: public bathroom and toilet facilities outside of the home

Location: stores, work places, bars, restaurants, train stations

JERSEY JOE RECOMMENDS:

I have to ride the New York City subway to and from work everyday.  I always make sure to carry a bottle of hand sanitizer.  You never know what you will be touching on the subway and the same goes when using a public restroom.

[Kicking Back with Jersey Joe] Exploring an Abandoned Casino

Jersey Joe explores an abandoned casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, that’s been walled off for years.

THE 411

What: The Claridge Hotel

Location: Atlantic City, New Jersey

Opened: 1929

Website: www.claridge.com

JERSEY JOE RECOMMENDS:

Since The Claridge Hotel became their own separate hotel, after being sold by Bally’s, the building is in the middle of an amazing transformation.  Aside from the renovations to the former casino space, they are renovating several floors of rooms, and continue to add more amenities and many restaurants and bars are planned.  I remember playing here during the casino days and always thought the building had a very grand feeling to it.  It’s nice to see that the property is in good hands and I look forward to seeing what else they have in store.  I really do with them the best of luck.  With all of the hotel towers that have closed in AC — the town REALLY NEEDS the Claridge.

[Kicking Back with Jersey Joe] Brushing Teeth with Chocolate

Would you brush your teeth with chocolate?  Well, Crest has a whole new “Be Adventurous” line of toothpaste.  Now, you can brush your teeth with awesome dessert flavors like chocolate or vanilla and more!  Jersey Joe puts it to the test and gets your reaction as well!

THE 411

What: chocolate mint toothpaste

Brand: Crest

Campaign Be Adventerous

Released: 2014

Sold: stores coast to coast

JERSEY JOE RECOMMENDS:

I have to admit – the taste was pretty good.  If you’ve ever had one of those Andy Candies chocolate after dinner mints – you’ve got the flavor here.

It didn’t seem to lather up as much as other toothpastes do, but my teeth still felt clean and refreshed.  However, I didn’t have that total minty fresh breath feeling that you get with regular toothpastes.

I applaud Crest for trying these crazy flavors and hope that they come out with more.  They could try cherry or orange toothpaste as well.

These unique flavors will make it easier for kids to try brushing and also act as a treat for adults.

I always like having that minty fresh breath aftertaste with most toothpastes, but you really don’t get that here.  This is almost all about the flavor and nothing more… but is definitely worth a try!

[Kicking Back with Jersey Joe] Dirty Hotel Pillows

Jersey Joe checks into a hotel room, but wants to know — are the throw pillows they put on the bed safe and clean?  Find out what you have to say about it…

THE 411

What: hotel rooms

Place: temporary bedroom or living quarters for vacationers and travelers, rented out for cash

Where: global

Length of stay: nightly and beyond

JERSEY JOE RECOMMENDS:

These are just my thoughts.  I can’t say for sure, whether the pillows in my room were cleaned or not, but judging by the lint and stains on the pillow – I’m guessing no.

The pillows look great in hotel brochures and on websites, but I have no desire to curl up with one after the person who checked out before me has done who knows what on them.  These extra pillows really are unnecessary.  They look great in a photo, but in practicality – no.  Many hotels add these, thinking they give the room a bonus feature, but for me, they really need to disappear.  Hotels had the same problem with heavy comforters that they used to put on beds years ago, but finally got the hint that people really don’t want them, after finding them discarded on the floor on a regular basis.  Eventually, this will happen to all of those extra throw pillows as well…

Jersey Joe checks out some hilarious Christmas fun facts from past and present.

The first evidence of Christmas being celebrated is 354 AD in Rome.

THE 411

What: Christmas Day

Date: December 25th

Why: annual celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ

JERSEY JOE RECOMMENDS

Definitely my favorite time of year.  New York City absolutely sparkles during the season and all the lights and decorations, almost give the city a feeling of magic… sounds like the old song Silver Bells, doesn’t it!

Make sure you take some time and visit with your family and friends during the season.  If you’re far away from family like me, that’s what social media and Skype is for!

Let me take this moment to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and hope that the fun of the season carries you all year long.  At least for me — the extra calories do!!!!

[Kicking Back with Jersey Joe] Ride the World’s Tallest Wheel

Jersey Joe takes a ride on The High Roller, the world’s highest observation wheel located in Las Vegas, Nevada.  But, being in Vegas – this isn’t just a ride on your typical Ferris Wheel.  Climb aboard with Jersey Joe and see what it’s all about.

THE 411

Name: The High Roller

What: World’s Tallest Observation Wheel

Location: The Linq, Las Vegas, Nevada

Opened: 2014

Purchase tickets: http://www.caesars.com/linq/high-roller.html#.VFhbDslG3To

JERSEY JOE RECOMMENDS:

This is definitely a ride for everyone… well, except those that have a fear of heights!  Honestly, this wasn’t scary at all.  Being enclosed inside the climate controlled pods, you actually lose all sense that you are on a Ferris Wheel.  This is one of a handful of family friendly attractions Vegas has to offer.  Give it time, I’m sure someone will get married on this thing at some point.

The views really are impressive and something that should be seen in person.  Next time, I’ll definitely have to check this out at night.  The price goes up, but Vegas at night is something to be seen.  Just make sure to put this on your list the next time you make a visit to Sin City.

Ready for a good laugh? Jersey Joe takes you to Las Vegas and checks out some of the crazy people and attractions!

THE 411

Where: Las Vegas, Nevada

What: gambling mecca of the United States

Time Zone: Pacific

Established: 5/15/1905

JERSEY JOE RECOMMENDS:

Las Vegas is definitely an adult’s playground.  Whether you like to gamble or not, or you are a high roller or not, there is plenty to do in the area.  Besides casinos, Vegas offers amazing shows, a diverse selection of dining, the mountains and desert attractions, and much more.  Those that are regular readers of this blog, will know that I don’t recommend taking kids under 21 to Vegas.  There’s some things for them to do, but it’s not Disneyland.

If you’re looking to do Vegas on the cheap, definitely consider a night or two downtown on Fremont Street, plus that’s where you’ll find some of the best gambling odds.

It’s hidden smack in the middle of an upscale New York City hotel.  Walled off behind red curtains, you would never even know it’s there… except for the occasional celebrity sighting!  The Burger Joint has become one of the Big Apple’s best kept secrets and Jersey Joe had to give it a try!

THE 411

Name: The Burger Joint

What: hidden burger bar / restaurant

Location: Le Parker Meridien Hotel, New York City

Number of Locations: 4 globally

Website: http://www.burgerjointny.com/56thstreet.php

JERSEY JOE RECOMMENDS:

It’s definitely a neat place to visit and it’s cool to be in on a big New York City secret.  I just with that the burger I had ordered would not have been such a soggy mess.  Next time, I’ll go with a single cheeseburger and hold off on the works.

If you’re ever in the city, definitely check it out… just be advised – there’s never enough seats!
